Whoa!! David Karp liked my Oklahoma safe room post! Is this real life?
Actually, yes. Karp and Mayer (very briefly) discussed the power of social media and the monster tornado disaster in OKC in this nice interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos yesterday. I think this shows they are listening, and I am humbled.
Thanks David!
Just made Mashable’s Top 9 Enviro-Tumblrs list. Thank you Mashable!!
Well, hello there UNICEF!
OK, this is a gorgeous short documentary about Sufism and its relationship with music. Sufis around the world embrace music as a celebration of faith, unlike the more fundamentalists of the Muslim faith. Just watch the intro.
I’m locked down for the night to watch it. From one of my favorite tumblrs:
fuckyeahmiddleeast:
here’s a cool documentary about music in Sufism….ALL OVER THE WORLD.
Wow! Nearly 1,000 visitors in my first month! Thank you everyone!
The backstory is I needed a creative outlet to discuss my passion for urban planning, especially adaptation. I lecture and publish on adaptation for city planners and land-use lawyers as part of a wonkish hobby. I do it also because it’s a satisfying way to contribute to an increasingly important facet of the growing field of climate change. So, after a special someone introduced me to tumblr, I quasi-left Facebook December 4th and created my newly beloved tumblr.
Here’s what I look like, in case ya’ll were wondering.

Wow. I am honored and humbled. I was just added to the top 10 environmental list by Shea Gunther, one of the hardest working environmental writers over at the fantastic Mother Nature Network. Thank you so much for the recognition. (Oh man, now I gotta step-up my game!)
Update: MNN’s sweet screengrab!
