“Drill baby drill!” - Sarah Palin’s famous quip became a mantra for the GOP. Now, drilling for oil is way up in the U.S., thanks in large part to President Obama. Alaska is being drilled more than ever before and the Keystone Pipeline XL is being built, for two examples.
So, why have gas prices have only gone up?

Yes, speculation has a fractional effect, but I think the real reason is because we are well past peak oil.

Because for all the crude capacity, there is a bottleneck at domestic refining, which is helping to keep prices up even w/ high crude supply.
