Anonymous asked: thoughts on the fund for public interest? i apparently have an interview there and seems sketchy and perhaps gives climate change activism a bad name, but those are my opinions

Hi anon, I’ve never heard of them. And, frankly, after looking at their website I can’t figure out what they do. I see a lot of resumes and don’t recall anyone having worked for them. So, I say, go with your gut… m

  1. ignatzcat said: I worked for them in Oregon. They’re a fundraising organization for the PIRGS (OSPIRG, MassPIRG, etc.). They pay based on how much you raise and will fire you if a weekly quota is missed. Pros: Public education and outreach. Cons: Stressful, annoying
  2. askjerves said: Dude, you know these peeps. And probably hold them in as little esteem as I do. “Spare a minute for the environment,” PIRG canvassers. You know the game. The “Fund” organizes those miserable canvassing campaigns for other big non-profits.
  3. amandabees said: Looks like they train people on and lead street canvassing campaigns — hitting the streets with a clipboard. Based on staff skills (direct mail, phone) my guess is that they’re a fundraising shop that calls their customers “partners”
