Re: This post

Hi FeralNostalgia!

Thanks for the props. I understand the sentiment driving Occupy Wall Street, but I don’t sympathize with this particular protest. The organizers are going to flame out and make fools of celebs looking to capitalize on momentum. What a waste of brain power. What an unfocused mess. All that’s left for the media to cover is goofiness.

Do these people know they can watch Congress debate and parse bills, live streaming? Do they know what is even on the 112th’s docket? After all that Troy Davis hubbub last week, a bill was introduced September 23rd to abolish the Federal Death penalty. And you know what? Not a friggin peep from the left.

We need to write our representatives and be specific and crystal clear when we do. Writing works. For example, just this past July, a few letters Republicans helped restored funds to portions of the Endangered Species Act:

Rep. Fitzpatrick (R-PA), who served as the only Republican co-sponsor of the amendment, said he received 400 calls and letters in opposition to the extinction rider from his constituents! Source: PhillyBurbs
