EU environmental laws influence US →
In the EU, “The burden of proof is on industry to demonstrate safety. And by demonstrating the safety…they also take liability and responsibility for that safety.” It’s backwards in the US, where the burden of proof is on government - not the manufacturer - to show that a chemical is safe for the environment or people.

Help out my buddy Ben Jervey’s new project. He’s been educating people on where energy comes from for years now, and this is the icing on the cake. Kick in a buck or three and reblog if you can! Thanks!

They’ll probably win their request. They also ask the Canadian government to ban prayers and children’s plays at public hearings. The mining company states that permit review should only include “objective facts.” They have a point. vivrai asked: Hi, long time follower here. I just wanted to thank you for your work and ask a question: considering the political realities of climate change/carbon legislation, do you think advocacy/lobbying groups should continue pushing for policies addressing climate change--that is, the current paradigm of "retard or reverse"--OR should civil society and governments "reset" and instead...

ezing asked: We enjoy your blog but are puzzled. Your definition of climate adaptation (perhaps coming from EO 13514) excludes energy and CO2 from “climate adaptation.” This implies “giving up” on reducing fossil fuel use, the main cause of climate change. Unlike environmental scientists focused on the causes of climate change (energy, CO2), you don’t. We think there is room...

ningunespacio asked: Hi, the other day my girlfriend and I start a discussion about climate change, and i realize that I´m not well informed about this issue, neither she, so I was wondering if you could give something to read like something to begin with. Because I found that even I've been confused "climate change" and "global warming" sorry for my english haha.
